Tips to Avoid Fast Food on The Go

Tips to Avoid Fast Food on The Go

I’m sure at one time or another we’ve all found ourselves on the drive thru line, starving, and craving some food that will provide a solution to that crazy grumbling sound in our bellies. So, we go for something quick and fast. It also doesn’t help that we are inundated with food everywhere we turn. Snacks are in gas stations, every retail store not to mention there are fast food joints on every corner. How do we avoid this? How can we avoid reaching “hangry to the point where we just need a fast fix and it doesn’t matter what it is? Well, it is much simpler than you’d think.

The real fast food, before corporations built these multi-million dollar unhealthy options for us, was good old-fashioned fruits and veggies. Imagine that! Fruits and veggies should always be the number one option, and they are sold everywhere we turn as well, although they don’t usually have a drive thru. So, if it is about convenience then we need to prepare ahead of time. If we pack snacks and quick foods to go in our purse or briefcase then we will always have a fast food option that aligns with having a healthy determination.

As with anything, it is all about making it a priority. I am always stocked with snacks when I know I will be out for an extended period of time. My insulated bag gets a lot of mileage! Some of my favorite things to pack on the go: apples, bananas, oranges, and dried fruits like mangos, my fave!!

Trail mix is another on of my go to’s you can make your own by combining some nuts, raisins, and dried fruit like cranberries in a little Ziploc back or plastic Tupperware container. It’s always there and it doesn’t fail me. It’s also quick to prepare and if I make a bunch of it I can take little servings for a couple days so it lasts.

The last thing you will always find in my purse is a protein bar and/or shake. These are a great meal on the go to keep you full and your body fueled.

As moms, we not only have to think of ourselves but our little ones. The nag factor is real when you are out and about with your kids so always have their favorite snacks with you on the go. This will reduce your chances of having to buy a snack with ingredients that make you cringe.

It must be a priority and all it takes is some planning. The best way to avoid fast food joints while on the go is to always make sure you have fast food options in your purse.
